Israeladvocate.com is meant to help people interested in becoming active about supporting Israel connect to existing advocacy organizations, learn more about current issues, and learn about and coordinate events.  It strives to be a one-stop website to keep Israel advocates up-to-date, active, and in touch with similar-minded people.

History

As a high school student involved in Jewish life, I was surrounded by people with strong opinions on Israel and its actions.  But I didn't feel that I knew enough to make up my mind about what to think.  This changed as I read more newspaper articles and books, and tried to untangle the complicated arguments surrounding Israel in the US.  I decided to apply to Israel programs and visit the country myself in the summer after my senior year of high school.  Once there, after talking to people of many different situations and political opinions, getting a sense of the complexity of the society, and witnessing the agonizing that goes into every political and military decision, I felt myself drawn towards action.  Being in Israel during the war this past summer only strengthened my desire to support Israel, and when I came back I turned a critical eye on media coverage and local opinion about Israel.  I think a website like this would have helped me get involved earlier, before my trip to Israel.
